Service Opportunity - Cub Day Camp Volunteer

Posted on Jun 8 2017 - 4:48pm

Attention All Scouts and friends:

Volunteers are still needed for the Guilford District Day Camp, June 26-30

YES, High School students working on their Service Learning Diploma are more than welcomed to attend.  No they don’t have to be Boy Scouts, any High School student looking for hours is welcomed.

Please read on for deteils

As you are aware, I’m the Program Director for the Guilford District Day Camp.   The camp starts in about 2 weeks and I’m still looking for about 10 more Boy Scouts to come out and help at camp.  Below is the areas I’m hoping to cover and yes I’ll gladly take your First year scouts as well.  If they don’t have Den Chief Training we do provide that for a small fee.  Any Scout that volunteers all 5 days is going to walk away with at least 40 hours of service.  And depending which station they are at they might even get some conservation service hours, some projects include: Monarch Butterfly program, we will be educating Cub Scouts about some plants that help keep bugs away and then planting some of the plants near the Concession stands.  To determine which stations/projects meet the Conservation service hours, I’m referencing the Council Conservation Committee Guidebook.

If you know anyone that might be interested please send them the attached brochure and forward my email.  Please have them send all inquiries to the camp email, listed on the brochure.  If scouts can’t volunteer all week then Monday thru Thursday would be greatly appreciated.  Friday is our Family Fun day so the program is completely different.  We provide a hot dog lunch that day and have special guests throughout the day, and different activities planned.  OR if a few scouts want to volunteer a few days, for example Scout A can volunteer Monday and Tuesday and Scout B can volunteer Wednesday and Thursday that would work too.  Send all emails to GuilfordCS.Daycamp@gmail.com
